How long does longarm quilting take?
Most times of the year, turn-around time is 1-2 weeks once your quilt arrives at SVQ. However, in the "busy season" (October through December), things can take a bit longer - possibly up to 3 weeks. Give yourself plenty of lead time to make sure you get your quilt back in time for special occasions or deadlines. (Shipping to AK, HI, and APO can take up to 2-3 weeks longer.)
-
What batting options do you offer?
SVQ offers several batting options: 100% cotton, 80/20, and cotton/wool blend. Of course, clients can always supply their own batting.
-
What size backing do I need?
Your backing needs to be at least 4 inches wider and longer on all sides to accommodate the the leaders and any shrinkage that may occur during quilting. If your quilt top is 60X80, your backing must be AT LEAST 68X88. Using Minky (or a similar product)? A few extra inches on allsides will be appreciated.
-
Will you piece my backing?
SVQ would be happy to piece your backing for you. Backing layout and number ofseams will be designated on the Quilt Intake Form.
-
Does SVQ do custom quilting?
Unfortunately, no. We only do edge-to-edge (E2E) quilting. We have a wide variety of qult stitch designs for our clients to choose from.
-
Will you piece my binding or do I need to piece it myself?
Yes! SVQ will piece your binding. Just make sure you include enough fabric to cut the number of strips needed for the entire perimeter plus at least 10 inches. If you choose, you can piece your own binding and have SVQ stitch it on for you.
